Volume & Sheathing Mascara

Unlike mascara with chemical ingredients, ZAO mascara reduces the risk of redness and irritation to your eyes. Their formula contains high-quality raw materials ideal for regular use and suitable for sensitive eyes.

The bamboo case is beautifully sophisticated and original, your mascara also comes with it's own cotton pouch.

The switch to natural mascara can be a tricky one as if in the past you have been using a synthetic mascara with dimethicone (a plasticiser) in it, this will have coated your lashes in plastic and can make it quite hard when switching to a natural mascara. Unfortunately we have unrealistic expectations of a natural product due to the synthetic ones we have used in the past and the results they have given us!  Take your time when applying and let each coat dry before applying again for thicker lashes.  A good tip is to use an old clean dry mascara brush in between coats to separate your lashes and helps drying time.

Key Ingredients: 

Organic bamboo hydrosol
Derived from the distillation of bamboo leaves, it purifies combination and acne-prone skin by mattifying it. Moisturizing and soothing, it is also beneficial for dry and sensitive skin. Thanks to its high silica content, it leaves a soft touch to the skin.

Acacia gum
Acacia gum or gum arabic that comes from the resin secreted by the Acacia Senegal tree, is used as an adhesive agent, to improve the hold of Zao Make-Up mascaras.

Organic avocado oil
Obtained from avocado pulp, this oil is healing and calming. It works like a wonder on skin irritations. Softening, protective and very soft, it restores elasticity and provides comfort to the skin and takes care of fragile skin. Regenerating and restructuring, it acts against skin aging.

Packaging

Although not completely plastic free, this ZAO mascara is refillable, you keep the bamboo case and refill the plastic bottle inside.

You keep the mascara wand and wash between refills.

Use the brush to start off with the upper lashes, holding the brush horizontally close to the root, move up in a zigzag motion while you look down.

Make sure to go over and concentrate on the ends to enlarge the eye as well as on the centre to open up the eyes.

Gently tap the eye lashes when applying mascara to the lower lashes, ensuring that you don’t overload them and leave them with a clean but volumised look.

Tips: before you put on mascara, always make sure your eyelashes are dry and free of cream or oil and if possible dust them with powder (this will give even more volume and staying power)

Open the mascara gently and in one movement, avoid pumping to keep the product on the brush, but make sure that you haven’t overloaded it also. If so just gently remove any excess with a tissue (not at the opening of the bottle)

If you have a few drops of mascara on your skin after you’ve applied it, wait until it is dry, then gently wipe it off with a our biodegradable cotton swabs.

If you are wearing foundation, you can dab a little on the cotton swab before removing the mascara to ensure your complexion remains even.
